Silo Wiki

The well respected Head of Mechanical, Knox is a recurring character in Silo. He was born in the Down Deep of the Silo and has worked in Mechanical for most of his life, eventually rising to become the head of the department.

Throughout the Series[edit | edit source]

Knox was born in the Down Deep of the Silo and worked in Mechanical from a young age. Eventually, Juliette Nichols was assigned to become his shadow when she left her family and moved to the Down Deep. Knox eventually rose through the ranks of Mechanical to become the department head and was tasked with keeping the generators of the Silo running.

When it became clear that the generators were in a state of disrepair, Juliette told Knox, on numerous occasions, that the generators needed to be shut down in order for them to be properly repaired. Knox, however, was reluctant to do so as he was worried that if they shut them down, they would be unable to restart them and as a result the Silo would be plunged into darkness. Juliette eventually reached an agreement with Mayor Ruth Jahns to shut down the generators for repair; Knox was responsible as the Head of Mechanical for overseeing the operation, which was a success.[1]

Juliette on the run[edit | edit source]

When Juliette came into possession of the hard drive and was on the run from Judicial, she ended up in Mechanical after jumping down one of the Silo's trash chutes. Knox sold Juliette out and told Sims and Judicial where Juliette was hiding. Shirley Campbell was angry at this and told Knox that what he had done was wrong, but Knox pointed out that there was nowhere Juliette could hide in the Down Deep and that Judicial would tear the place apart to find her, much to the detriment of the other residents of Mechanical. Knox later watched from the cafeteria when Juliette was sent out to clean.
