Apple TV+ is a streaming service launched by Apple Inc. on November 1, 2019. The service offers a wide variety of original content, including dramas, comedies, documentaries, feature films, and children's programming, all created and produced exclusively for Apple TV+ subscribers.
Unlike other streaming services that offer libraries of old and licensed content, Apple TV+ focuses entirely on original programming. This includes shows and movies from well-known creators like Steven Spielberg, Oprah Winfrey, and J.J. Abrams, among others. Some of its most popular original series include "The Morning Show," "Ted Lasso," and "For All Mankind." It is also the distributor for Silo.
Apple TV+ is available in more than 100 countries and can be accessed through the Apple TV app on Apple devices, including iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, and Mac, as well as select Samsung, LG, Sony, and VIZIO smart TVs, Amazon Fire TV, Roku devices, and on tv.apple.com. The service supports 4K, Dolby Vision, and Dolby Atmos on select content, offering a high-quality viewing experience.
Apple TV+ is offered at $4.99 per month after a seven-day free trial. Apple also offers the service free for a year with the purchase of an eligible Apple device. The subscription supports Family Sharing, allowing up to six family members to share the same subscription.
Apple TV+ is part of Apple's broader strategy to diversify its revenue streams beyond device sales, expanding into digital content and services. As a relatively new entrant in the crowded streaming landscape, Apple TV+ seeks to distinguish itself through its focus on a small but high-quality catalog of original content.
